What a Properly Licensed Taxi Looks Like
Driver ID and licence displayed
A licensed taxi displays the driver's ID and taxi licence in a visible spot on the dashboard, readable from outside the car.

Red, green or blue — see Types of HK Taxis. A colour or markings that don't match isn't a legitimate Hong Kong taxi.
A working, visible meter
A licensed metered taxi has a meter mounted where passengers can see it — treat a missing meter as a red flag.
Don't accept unsolicited offers
Someone approaching you inside or outside the arrivals hall, offering a ride before you've asked, is a warning sign — head to the official taxi rank instead.
