Q: How much is a taxi from the airport to a Kowloon hotel?

Kowloon is a big area, and the price varies by district: Mei Foo about $200; Lai Chi Kok and Cheung Sha Wan about $210; Sham Shui Po and Nam Cheong $215–$225; Prince Edward, Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei $220–$230; Kowloon Tong and Ho Man Tin $230–$240; Hung Hom and To Kwa Wan $230–$240; Kowloon City and Kai Tak $230–$245; Wong Tai Sin and Diamond Hill $240–$250; Kwun Tong, Lam Tin and Kowloon Bay $250–$270. Q: In Kowloon, is the fixed fare or the 15%-off meter better value?

Kowloon does not cross the harbour, so the two are quite close. Taking Mong Kok at about 31 km, the meter comes to roughly $257, less 15% is about $218, and the fixed fare is $220–$230 — not much in it. The real difference is against the full metered fare: $257 plus $12 for two bags is about $269, so the fixed fare saves roughly $40–$50. The fixed fare also includes luggage, carries no surcharge for traffic, and is known before you land. We quote both so you can choose.

Q: Do I pay tunnel tolls going from a Kowloon hotel to the airport?

Nothing extra. Kowloon trips never cross a harbour tunnel, so there is no $25 toll and no $25 return toll. The Airport Tunnel, Nam Wan Tunnel and Cheung Tsing Tunnel along the way are all on the Transport Department's list of government road tunnels with no toll, and the Lantau Link has been toll-free since December 2020. Some eastern Kowloon routes use the Kai Tak Tunnel or the Central Kowloon Route, which are also toll-free. That makes Kowloon one of the simplest fare structures in Hong Kong: it reflects distance and nothing else.

Q: My hotel is near the Ladies' Market or Apliu Street. Can a taxi get there?

Yes, but there are real constraints. Parts of Fa Yuen Street, Tung Choi Street (the Ladies' Market) and Sai Yeung Choi Street South in Mong Kok are pedestrian zones or stall areas; Apliu Street and Pei Ho Street in Sham Shui Po are crowded with stalls and delivery vans, so a vehicle may not reach the door. In practice we set down on the nearest main road — Nathan Road, Lai Chi Kok Road or Cheung Sha Wan Road — a few dozen metres away. We confirm the drop-off point when we send you the registration number.

Q: Will a concert at the Coliseum or an event at Kai Tak Sports Park affect my trip?

Yes. On concert nights at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Cheong Wan Road, Chatham Road North and the area around Hung Hom station fill with people and carry temporary traffic arrangements; when there is a major fixture or concert at Kai Tak Sports Park, traffic builds sharply on Prince Edward Road East, Kwun Tong Road and around Kai Tak. If your hotel is nearby and your trip falls on an event day, allow another 20–30 minutes and tell us when you book, and we will arrange a closer set-down point.

Q: Is there an Airport Express station in Kowloon?

There is one — Kowloon station, in the West Kowloon and Jordan area — with in-town check-in and free shuttle buses to selected hotels (routes, frequencies and fares as published by the MTR). But Kowloon station only serves a small slice of West Kowloon. If your hotel is in Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom, Kowloon City or Kwun Tong, you still need an MTR ride or another connection from there, which is no fun with luggage.

Q: Can I book for a late-night arrival? Is there a surcharge?

Yes, we run 24 hours a day all year round, with no night surcharge. The Airport Express and the MTR have service hours, so red-eye arrivals often cannot use the railway at all. Fixed fares on some routes are slightly higher in the morning peak (generally 05:00–08:00), and we say so clearly when we quote. See late-night airport taxi.

Q: If my flight is delayed or early, do I lose the fare?

No. Give us the flight number when you book and we dispatch against the actual landing time, tracking delays for you. If the delay is a long one — several hours, say — just send a WhatsApp so we can adjust; there is no rebooking fee.

Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Prince Edward, Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Mei Foo, Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon Tong, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon City, Kai Tak, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong — all of it is called "Kowloon", but from Mei Foo (about 27 km) to Kwun Tong (about 37 km) is a 10 km spread, which is roughly $70 in distance alone. "Kowloon" is not one place — why we insist on quoting by district

This is the most important section on the page, and the part most of the trade leaves vague

"Kowloon" is very wide from west to east. By driving distance:

Airport → Mei Foo: about 27 km
Airport → Mong Kok: about 31 km
Airport → Hung Hom: about 33 km
Airport → Kwun Tong: about 37 km

That is a spread of about 10 km between nearest and furthest. Under the legal tariff, once the meter passes $102.5 it charges $1.4 per 200 m — about $7 a kilometre — so 10 km is a gap of roughly $70.

Quote one price for all of Kowloon and two kinds of unfairness follow

Guests in Mei Foo and Lai Chi Kok overpay. Their trip is only 27 km, but they pay the same as Kwun Tong.
Guests in Kwun Tong and Lam Tin risk being turned away, or asked for more afterwards. A driver who finds the real distance far exceeds the quote is going to dispute it.

So we stick to quoting by district — send us the full hotel name or the area on WhatsApp and we give you a firm figure for that district. It is fair to both sides, and it is the fundamental reason we never add to a price after quoting it.

We are not going to overstate it: in Kowloon the fixed fare and the 15%-off meter are quite close

Because Kowloon does not cross the harbour, there is no $25 tunnel toll and no $25 return toll — no $50 of cost to absorb. So the fixed fare ($220–$230) and the 15%-off meter (about $218) are not far apart.

The real gap is against the full metered fare (about $269), where the fixed fare saves roughly $40–$50.

Each has its merits, so we quote both:

The 15%-off meter is lowest when the roads are clear — late at night or early in the morning, for instance.
The fixed fare includes luggage (two bags are $12 in themselves), carries no surcharge for traffic, and is known before you land. When Mong Kok and Sham Shui Po are congested, the fixed fare is clearly the safer bet.

Kowloon to the airport: no tolls at all, the whole way

This is Kowloon's biggest structural advantage over Hong Kong Island

Kowloon and the airport sit on the same side of the harbour road network, so the trip never crosses the water. The standard route is Airport Tunnel → Nam Wan Tunnel → Tsing Ma Bridge (Lantau Link) → Cheung Tsing Tunnel → Tsing Kwai Highway → West Kowloon Highway, then into the city by district.

Against Hong Kong Island: Kowloon starts $50 cheaper

Going to Hong Kong Island from the airport means crossing the water: the taxi toll for all three harbour tunnels is currently a flat $25, and if the passenger did not board at a cross-harbour taxi stand a further $25 return toll applies, so $50 in all. Kowloon carries none of that, which is why the district fixed fares here ($200–$270) sit clearly below island hotels ($280–$300). The return-toll rules are set out in the surcharge guide.

Eastern Kowloon has improved, thanks to a new road

The Central Kowloon Route (Yau Ma Tei section) / Central Kowloon Corridor opened on 21 December 2025: about 4.7 km, dual three-lane, bypassing congested central Kowloon. The government has said the peak-hour drive from Yau Ma Tei to Kowloon Bay can fall from about 30 minutes to about 5. So hotels around Kowloon City, Kai Tak, Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong are easier to reach on arrival than they used to be. The actual arrangements are as published by the government.

Kowloon station serves a limited area, and that settles the choice for most Kowloon hotel guests

Kowloon has one Airport Express station — Kowloon station, in the West Kowloon and Jordan area — with in-town check-in and free shuttle buses to selected hotels (routes, frequencies and fares as published by the MTR). But Kowloon station only serves a small slice of West Kowloon.

Because Kowloon is itself the shopping, market and food district — there is nothing else to travel to

Go to the hotel first and leave your bags. Most Kowloon hotels will hold luggage before the official check-in time (each hotel sets its own policy), so you can head out unencumbered.
Plenty within walking distance. Mong Kok (Langham Place, the Ladies' Market, Sneaker Street), Sham Shui Po (Apliu Street, the electronics and fabric markets), Yau Ma Tei (the Temple Street night market, the jade market), Kowloon City (the restaurant streets), Kowloon Tong (Festival Walk), Kwun Tong (apm) — all right on the doorstep.
Do it all in one trip. You can book "airport → hotel (drop the bags) → attraction" and we quote one total for the actual route, with nothing added once you are in the car.

The Airport Tunnel, Nam Wan Tunnel and Cheung Tsing Tunnel along the way are all on the Transport Department's list of government road tunnels with no toll, and the Lantau Link has been toll-free since December 2020. Some eastern Kowloon routes use the Kai Tak Tunnel or the Central Kowloon Route, which are also toll-free. That makes Kowloon one of the simplest fare structures in Hong Kong: it reflects distance and nothing else.

Yes, but there are real constraints. Parts of Fa Yuen Street, Tung Choi Street (the Ladies' Market) and Sai Yeung Choi Street South in Mong Kok are pedestrian zones or stall areas; Apliu Street and Pei Ho Street in Sham Shui Po are crowded with stalls and delivery vans, so a vehicle may not reach the door. In practice we set down on the nearest main road — Nathan Road, Lai Chi Kok Road or Cheung Sha Wan Road — a few dozen metres away. We confirm the drop-off point when we send you the registration number.

Yes. On concert nights at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Cheong Wan Road, Chatham Road North and the area around Hung Hom station fill with people and carry temporary traffic arrangements; when there is a major fixture or concert at Kai Tak Sports Park, traffic builds sharply on Prince Edward Road East, Kwun Tong Road and around Kai Tak. If your hotel is nearby and your trip falls on an event day, allow another 20–30 minutes and tell us when you book, and we will arrange a closer set-down point.

There is one — Kowloon station, in the West Kowloon and Jordan area — with in-town check-in and free shuttle buses to selected hotels (routes, frequencies and fares as published by the MTR). But Kowloon station only serves a small slice of West Kowloon. If your hotel is in Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom, Kowloon City or Kwun Tong, you still need an MTR ride or another connection from there, which is no fun with luggage.

Yes, we run 24 hours a day all year round, with no night surcharge. The Airport Express and the MTR have service hours, so red-eye arrivals often cannot use the railway at all. Fixed fares on some routes are slightly higher in the morning peak (generally 05:00–08:00), and we say so clearly when we quote. See late-night airport taxi.

No. Give us the flight number when you book and we dispatch against the actual landing time, tracking delays for you. If the delay is a long one — several hours, say — just send a WhatsApp so we can adjust; there is no rebooking fee.

We agree a specific meeting point in the arrivals hall when we dispatch the car, and give you the registration number. Collect your bags, clear the formalities, then send us a WhatsApp and the driver comes to the agreed spot. Check the registration before boarding so you do not end up in an unlicensed car.

Most Kowloon hotels will hold your luggage before the official check-in time (each hotel sets its own policy). The nice thing about Kowloon is that it is the shopping and food district — Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Yau Ma Tei and Kowloon City are right downstairs, with nothing else to travel to. If you would rather do "airport → hotel → attraction" in one go, book a multi-stop trip and we quote one total for the actual route.

Yes. The fixed fare includes luggage, with no limit on pieces. A taxi normally carries 4–5 passengers (depending on the registered seating), so larger groups need a second car. Please mention pushchairs, pet carriers (statutorily $5 per animal), golf bags and oversized items when you book. See taxis for groups and large luggage.

We accept cash, Octopus, Visa/Mastercard, PayMe, FPS and Alipay; please say which you intend to use when booking. Ask the driver if you need a receipt. Corporate clients can settle monthly, which suits meeting clients or visitors off their flights — see corporate transfers.

Statutory information follows the government's published figures. The taxi tariff took effect on 14 July 2024 (red taxi flag-fall $29, then $2.1 per 200 m or minute of waiting, $1.4 once the fare reaches $102.5; green $25.5 / $1.9 / $1.4 above $82.5; blue $24 / $1.9 / $1.6 above $195). Surcharges are $6 per piece of luggage, $5 per animal, $5 per telephone booking, and nothing for wheelchairs and crutches. The Airport Tunnel, Nam Wan Tunnel, Cheung Tsing Tunnel, Kai Tak Tunnel and the Central Kowloon Route (Yau Ma Tei section tunnel) appear on the Transport Department's list of government road tunnels with no toll, and the Lantau Link has been toll-free since December 2020; the taxi toll for the three harbour tunnels is $25, with a further $25 return toll where the passenger did not board at a cross-harbour taxi stand, and the Tai Lam Tunnel taxi toll is $28. The Central Kowloon Route (Yau Ma Tei section) / Central Kowloon Corridor opened on 21 December 2025, about 4.7 km long; the government has said the peak-hour drive from Yau Ma Tei to Kowloon Bay can fall from about 30 minutes to about 5, and the actual arrangements are as published by the government. The airport car park fee is not a statutory taxi charge; around $16 is common in this trade, and we say whether it is included when we quote. Airport Express stations, journey times, fares, frequencies, in-town check-in and free shuttle routes are as published by the MTR; airport bus routes and fares are as published by KMB and Long Win; hotel luggage storage and check-in arrangements are set by each hotel.
