This price list is not a statutory uniform price, and it does not mean every address in the same district costs the same. "Hong Kong Island $280" Really Means "Specific Central Addresses $280"

Hong Kong Island covers Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, North Point, Sai Wan, the Mid-Levels, the Peak, Aberdeen and the Southern District, and the distances and routes differ markedly — so one price should not be made to stand for the whole island.

A Price List Cannot Replace Confirming a Lawful Fare Basis

Before boarding, a passenger should know which eligible operator has taken the trip, whether the meter or a single fare applies, and how tunnels, baggage, parking, waiting and stops en route are handled. A reference price published on a website does not in itself mean a booking exists.

The statutory meter fares took effect on 14 July 2024 and still applied as at August 2026. Tunnel, road and return charges are added on the actual route under the relevant statutory rules.

Which Baggage Can Be Charged at $6 a Piece?

Generally baggage put in the boot, and baggage carried in the passenger compartment whose length, width and height add up to more than 140 cm. Ordinary light baggage in the cabin is not necessarily chargeable; a wheelchair or cane a passenger with a disability depends on to move about is free.

Is There a General Small-Hours Surcharge on Hong Kong Taxis?

The statutory meter fares include no general small-hours surcharge. A small-hours trip may still involve the normal meter, tunnels, roads, baggage, a telephone booking fee and waiting; where a booked price applies, it is confirmed on that lawful quotation and its written terms.

What Does a Reference Price Include? Check Every Item

Only where the quotation expressly says "tunnel and road charges included" should they be treated as included; otherwise they need confirming against the actual route.

It should state how many large pieces are included. No baggage charge does not mean unlimited boot capacity.

The statutory telephone booking fee is $5 per trip; a booked quotation should say clearly whether it is counted in.

How Far "All-In" Goes Depends on What That Quotation Says

Unless that particular quotation sets it out clearly, do not assume every tunnel, baggage, telephone booking, parking, waiting and stop charge is already included. The most accurate way to put it is this: what is included is as that written quotation says. We itemise it when we quote, so you can check it line by line when you receive it.

How Is a 15% Discount on an Airport Taxi Worked Out?

"15% off" literally means a specified base multiplied by 0.85, but a passenger cannot assume every item on the bill takes part in the discount. The lawful fare basis, the trips it applies to, and how the discount is calculated must all be confirmed clearly before the trip starts.

"15% Off" and a "Flat Fare" Are Not the Same Thing

15% off is a discount on a specified base; a flat fare is a single amount agreed beforehand on a pre-booked trip that meets the applicable rules. The two work differently and should not be described as if they were one.

For a mathematical comparison, use the 15%-off fare calculator; the result is an estimate, and the formal arrangement is still the lawful written quotation.

How Should You Read Airport Taxi Journey Times?

The times in the price list are for trip planning, not a promise of arrival. The actual journey depends on the time of day, the harbour route, road works, accidents, severe weather, event closures, airport traffic and the hotel entrance.

When the Journey Most Easily Gets Longer

Weekday morning and evening peaks.
Congestion in the harbour tunnels and on the main trunk roads.
Weekend attractions, concerts, exhibitions, and cruise passengers arriving or leaving together.
Heavy rain, a typhoon, flooded roads or a traffic accident.
Temporary traffic controls at Victoria Peak, Disneyland, Kai Tak or around a major event.
Queues at a hotel, shopping centre or cruise terminal entrance.
Several stops en route, or passengers not gathering on time.

Chasing a Flight Means More Than Reading "About 30 Minutes"

For a drop-off, also allow time for boarding, traffic, T1 or T2 check-in, bag drop, security, immigration and getting to the gate. No road transfer can be guaranteed entirely free of traffic.
