Why is "airport into town" slightly dearer than "into the airport"? Here is the honest answer
You may have noticed that Tsim Sha Tsui to the airport is about $210–$220, while the airport to Tsim Sha Tsui starts at $230. Meeting an arrival costs more, for three reasons:
- The car park fee. The driver has to enter the airport car park or the designated pickup area and wait, and the trade generally charges separately for that (commonly around $16).
- Waiting time. An airport pickup waits for the flight's actual landing time, and waiting is itself a cost — more so when the flight is delayed.
- Handling the luggage. Arriving passengers carry the most, and our fixed fare adds nothing for it.
What we do is write those costs into the fixed fare and state plainly when we quote whether the car park fee is included — nothing is added once you are in the car. It is also why every page on this site notes that the airport-into-town direction may differ.

- Send us your flight number and hotel. On WhatsApp, give the flight number (CX250, for example), arrival date and time, the full hotel name (the Chinese name helps), the number of passengers and the number of bags. We work from the flight's actual landing time and track delays automatically.
- You get a fixed fare. We reply with a firm total, with tunnel tolls, the return toll and luggage included, and we state clearly whether the airport car park fee is part of it.
- You get the registration number and the meeting point. We send the vehicle registration and the agreed meeting point in the arrivals hall. Send us a WhatsApp once you have your bags and the driver comes straight over.
- Check the plate, then get in. Check the registration number before you board and confirm the vehicle is a licensed red, green or blue taxi, with a roof sign and a legal meter, so you do not end up in an unlicensed car. Tell the driver if you need a receipt.

Dropping off at Tsim Sha Tsui hotels: be specific, and the driver can stop where you want
Dense streets, plenty of restricted zones, and coaches occupying the hotel forecourts — this is the most common friction point in the district
Most Tsim Sha Tsui hotels have a forecourt or a designated set-down point, and the driver can take you straight to the lobby door. But parts of Nathan Road and Canton Road have restricted-zone hours, double yellow lines or no-setting-down rules, and at weekends and in peak season the hotel forecourts are often taken up by tour coaches.
Give us these three things and the drop-off goes far more smoothly
- The full hotel name (with the Chinese name). Plenty of hotels here have identical or similar names; the full Chinese name is the most reliable.
- The street it is on — Salisbury Road, Nathan Road, Canton Road, Mody Road, Kimberley Road, Knutsford Terrace, Hanoi Road or Observatory Road, for instance.
- A nearby landmark — Harbour City, K11 MUSEA, Kowloon Park, or a particular exit of Tsim Sha Tsui station.
A few locations that need extra care
- Guesthouses in Chungking Mansions, Mirador Mansion and the like. They are on Nathan Road, where the pavement is packed and setting down is restricted. With several bags we usually suggest a nearby side street and a walk of a few dozen metres — far safer than wrestling luggage out on Nathan Road. Please give us "building name + floor or guesthouse name".
- Boutique hotels around Knutsford Terrace. It is a short, steep, one-way street, so we arrange to set down on the appropriate side.
- Harbour City and Canton Road. On weekend and holiday afternoons, visitors and coaches converge and set-down space is tight; there may be a short wait, or we switch to a side street.
- Festivals and fireworks. Temporary traffic controls come into force along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront and Salisbury Road may be closed; the driver will then use the nearest legal set-down point.
We confirm the drop-off point when we send the registration number

There is no Airport Express station in Tsim Sha Tsui — so what is the best way in?

The nearest Airport Express station is Kowloon station, over in Jordan and West Kowloon, and you still need a connecting ride or the MTR to reach Tsim Sha Tsui. The Airport Express offers in-town check-in at Kowloon station and free shuttle buses to selected hotels (routes, frequencies, fares and service hours as published by the MTR).
