Ocean Park is at Wong Chuk Hang on the south side of Hong Kong Island, about 45 km from Hong Kong International Airport — the longest of our popular routes. The fixed price is $300, and that already covers the $25 harbour tunnel toll, the $25 return toll, the Aberdeen Tunnel charge and luggage (no limit on pieces). Nothing is added at the end. There is no direct rail link from the airport to Ocean Park — the MTR means several changes — whereas a taxi is one ride from the arrivals hall to the main gate or a resort hotel door. We run 24 hours a day, red-eye arrivals included, with no night surcharge.

Why the fixed price wins on this route
Based on roughly 45 km from the airport with two checked bags
This is the longest of our popular routes and the one with the most toll points. Getting from Lantau to the south side of Hong Kong Island means crossing under the harbour and then going through the Aberdeen Tunnel under the hills. On the meter, each of those charges is added on top, one by one.

✔ The key point: this route pays the tunnel twice
The airport is on Lantau and Ocean Park is on Hong Kong Island, so the trip has to cross the harbour. All three cross-harbour tunnels currently charge taxis a flat $25 at any hour; and when the passenger did not board at a cross-harbour taxi stand, a further $25 return toll applies, on the basis that the driver has to come back empty. That is $50 before the Aberdeen Tunnel is counted. Our $300 fixed price covers all of it.

The character of the drive is fast first, slower second. Everything up to the harbour crossing is expressway and normally runs well; once you are through the tunnel and into the west of Hong Kong Island, city streets begin.

On weekdays roughly 08:00–09:30 and 17:30–19:00, the harbour crossing exit and the Aberdeen Tunnel area are slower and the whole trip can take 60–75 minutes. Overnight and on weekend mornings it runs best. The point of a fixed price is that none of this changes what you pay.
When does this route get slow?
Journey time varies more on this route than on any other we run, because it crosses Lantau, west Kowloon, the north shore of Hong Kong Island and then the Southern District — trouble anywhere along that chain slows the whole thing down.

✔ Traffic has zero effect on what you pay
This is where a fixed price earns its keep. On the meter, traffic means the meter keeps running — every minute of waiting adds up, and $372 becomes $420 easily enough. With the fixed price it is $300 however long it takes, because the risk sits with us. On this route we usually recommend the fixed price over the discounted meter for exactly that reason.

If you are staying at a Central or Hong Kong Island hotel, the hop from there to Ocean Park is short. From a Kowloon hotel you cross the harbour again, so going to the park first and the hotel afterwards often works out better.

Southern District roads are narrow and partly cut into the hillside, so peak times and holidays run slower. These are reference prices; the confirmed fare is the one given at booking. For the rest of the island see Hong Kong Island to the airport.

These allow about 2.5 hours at the airport (international flights generally suggest 2–3 hours) plus 45–60 minutes of driving. Always check your airline's own cut-off.
Meeting your driver on arrival
Booking a pickup and joining the taxi rank are two different things. At the official rank you wait your turn in whatever queue exists on the day. A booked pickup is arranged at the confirmed, permitted meeting point for that booking, so you do not join the general rank queue.
How it runs
- Before departure: we WhatsApp you the vehicle registration and the driver's phone number.
- After you land: switch your phone on and message us "landed". If your bags are delayed, tell us you are still at the carousel and we will re-confirm the waiting arrangement.
- Meeting: the driver waits in the arrivals hall; check the plate against our message and get in.
- Paying: at the end of the trip — cash, Octopus or e-payment.

Four things people get wrong about this trip
1. "A fixed price must be dearer than the meter"
On this route it is the other way round. Forty-five kilometres, a harbour crossing and the Aberdeen Tunnel put the metered total at roughly $372–$422 with tolls, and higher in traffic. The $300 fixed price puts that risk on us and is usually $70–$120 cheaper.
2. "Tolls get added at the end"
They do not. The $300 we quote already includes the $25 harbour tunnel toll, the $25 return toll and the Aberdeen Tunnel charge. Nothing is added when you arrive. If a quote says "fare plus tolls", that is not a fixed price.
3. "There's an Ocean Park MTR station, so it must be easy"
From the city, yes. From the airport, no. You take the Airport Express into town, change to the Island line, change again to the South Island line — typically 60–80 minutes with waiting, carrying your luggage through every gate and interchange.
4. "Bags can be stored, so going straight in is fine"
The park does offer storage, but what it covers, where it is and what it costs follow the park's own published information, and it can queue in peak season. With a lot of luggage, dropping it at a hotel first is safer — and staying at a park hotel is easiest of all.
Three common situations
Landing in the morning and going straight in
Workable, but do the arithmetic. Land at 09:00, allow 45–60 minutes for immigration, bags and customs, then 45–60 minutes of driving: you are at the gate around 11:00–11:30. You have not checked in, so what happens to the bags? The park has storage (details per the park's own information) but it can queue at busy times. With a lot of luggage, a park hotel or an earlier hotel drop is the safer plan.

Staying in town, visiting the next day
The most common pattern. Land, go to your Hong Kong Island or Kowloon hotel, and travel to Ocean Park the following day. From a Hong Kong Island hotel that second trip is short and stays on the island; from Kowloon you cross the harbour again. On transport alone, an Ocean Park trip works better from the island side.

Leaving the park to catch a flight
Timing matters most here. The route is 45 km and passes two places that jam easily — the harbour crossing and the Aberdeen Tunnel. An evening flight means departing in the peak, so allow an extra 20 minutes. Use the table above and book a day ahead.

Where you stay changes both the cost and the time of an Ocean Park trip. On transport alone:

Transport only; room rates are a separate question. Note that Kowloon is cheaper on airport transfers, but repeated harbour crossings to the park cancel that out. For a park-focused trip, the island side or a park hotel saves the most time.
