Fill in your pickup or drop-off, date, time, flight, full address, group size and luggage, and this page will build a WhatsApp message so you can check the Hong Kong airport taxi fixed fare, metered discount, vehicle type and what's included. Fixed Fare, 15% Off & Metered Estimate — What's the Difference?
| Method | How it's calculated | Advantage | Must confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed fare | Quoted against the confirmed pickup point, destination, date, time, passengers, luggage and stops | Easier to budget before you leave | Whether tolls, roads, luggage, parking, waiting, dispatch and stops are included |
| 15% off meter | A discount applied to a specified portion of the actual meter reading | Can work out well when roads are clear | Which fees the discount applies to — don't assume every item is simply multiplied by 0.85 |
| Statutory meter | Metered by distance travelled and waiting time, plus applicable statutory surcharges | Pricing rules set by law | Traffic congestion adds waiting-time charges, so the final price can't be fully fixed in advance |
| Calculator estimate | Estimated from map distance, time and the details you enter | Handy for comparing routes and budgeting | An estimate only — not a driver's quote, actual traffic, or the final fare |
A fixed fare should be "one price plus the full terms"
A reliable quote shouldn't be just a number. The written details should cover the pickup point, destination, date, time, vehicle type, passengers, luggage, stops and included costs; if any of this changes later, get it reconfirmed.
2026 Hong Kong Taxi Statutory Fare Basics
| Charge item | Urban taxi / red | New Territories taxi / green | Lantau taxi / blue |
|---|---|---|---|
| First 2km or any part | $29 | $25.5 | $24 |
| Per 200m / minute waiting (first tier) | $2.1, up to a fare of $102.5 | $1.9, up to a fare of $82.5 | $1.9, up to a fare of $195 |
| Per 200m / minute waiting (after that) | $1.4 | $1.4 | $1.6 |
| Per chargeable luggage item | $6 | $6 | $6 |
| Per animal or bird | $5 | $5 | $5 |
| Per dispatch/reservation trip | $5 | $5 | $5 |
The above are the statutory fare basics applicable as of August 2026. Tunnel, road and return tolls are calculated separately per the actual route and relevant rules; if you accept a fixed fare or discounted quote, the confirmed terms apply instead.
Not every item of hand luggage is chargeable
Generally, luggage placed in the boot, or in the passenger compartment with combined length, width and height over 140cm, is chargeable. Wheelchairs and crutches a disabled passenger relies on for mobility are free. Still provide your full luggage count when getting a quote, since capacity and charges are two separate questions.

What Affects an Airport Taxi Quote?
Full pickup/drop-off address
Within the same district, different estates, village houses, hotel branches and building entrances can mean different routes and distances.
Tolls & roads
Trips to Hong Kong Island, East Kowloon and parts of the New Territories may involve tunnels, toll roads or different reasonable routes.
Luggage & special items
Large luggage, wheelchairs, strollers, golf bags and bike boxes affect the vehicle type, capacity and luggage fee.
Passengers & number of vehicles
Enough seats doesn't necessarily mean enough boot space. Larger groups may need a bigger vehicle or multiple cars.
Waiting & parking
For a pickup, flight delays, immigration, baggage delays and parking time can all affect the arrangement and cost.
Stops & rerouting
Extra pickups, drop-off stops, a last-minute address change or a long wait all add distance or time, and may require a new quote.
Overnight & early-morning trips
The statutory meter has no general overnight surcharge, but actual availability, routing and other requirements still need per-trip confirmation.
Vehicle type & operating area
Red, green and blue taxis have different operating areas; a 6-seater, larger boot or specific vehicle model needs availability confirmed first.
From Quote to Confirmed Booking
- Fill in your details: pickup or drop-off, full address, date, time, flight, group size and luggage.
- Send via WhatsApp: the form organises your details and opens WhatsApp for you to review and send.
- Confirm the route & vehicle type: red, green, blue, a larger vehicle, or multiple cars as applicable.
- Receive a written quote: check whether it's a fixed fare, a metered discount, or a statutory meter reference.
- Check what's included: tolls, roads, luggage, parking, waiting, dispatch and stops.
- Explicitly accept: confirm the date, time, address, price, payment and receipt requirements.
- Wait for formal confirmation: the arrangement is only complete once you receive a booking-confirmed message and later dispatch details.
- Check before boarding: verify the actual plate number, vehicle type, pickup location and destination.
Delivered, read, or quoted — none of that means a car is arranged
Only once both sides have confirmed the trip and price, and you've received a formal booking-confirmed message, is the arrangement complete. If you change the address, time, flight or passenger count later, you must get a fresh confirmation.
Details to Provide for a Hong Kong Airport Pickup Quote
| Detail | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Airline & flight number | Verifies the actual flight and expected arrival, rather than relying only on a time that's easy to change |
| Arrival date | Long overnight flights can cross into the next day, so confirm using the Hong Kong date |
| Hong Kong destination | Determines the route, taxi type, tolls and fare |
| Passengers & luggage | Determines the vehicle type, number of vehicles and actual capacity |
| Waiting arrangement | Confirms free waiting time, parking cost, handling of baggage delays and extended loss of contact |
| Post-landing contact method | Confirms the meeting point after clearing immigration and collecting luggage |
Hong Kong Airport pickups are currently at T1
Hong Kong International Airport's arrivals and pickup arrangements currently remain at Terminal 1 (T1), with the arrivals hall split into Area A and Area B. After clearing immigration, collecting luggage and going through customs, check the on-site flight information or signage, then confirm your actual exit location.
T2 mainly serves certain departing passengers
Terminal 2 (T2) currently mainly handles departure check-in, baggage drop, security and departure procedures for certain airlines. Passengers being dropped off should provide their airline and flight number, and confirm T1 or T2 per the airline's latest notice.
Flight tracking doesn't tell us when you'll exit
After landing there's still taxiing, disembarking, immigration, baggage claim and customs. Confirming your actual location only after collecting your luggage helps reduce parking time and the chance of missing each other.
Drop-Off Quotes: How to Set Your Pickup Time
A quote needs the airline, flight number, departure time, pickup address, check-in terminal, group size and luggage. We can help arrange the transfer, but the airline's check-in cut-off, security checks, departure procedures and gate distance still need to be confirmed by you.
Factors to consider for your buffer time
- The airline's recommended airport arrival time.
- T1 or T2 check-in and baggage drop location.
- Lift and check-out time at your home, hotel or office building.
- Rush-hour roads, tunnels and the risk of a traffic incident.
- Bad weather, event road closures and holiday traffic.
- Time needed for a large group, children, elderly passengers and luggage to board.
- Whether you need an extra pickup or multiple pickup points.
A quote is not a flight guarantee
No road journey can be fully guaranteed against traffic, incidents, road closures, weather or unexpected vehicle issues. Build in a reasonable buffer for an important flight — don't count down from the shortest drive time shown on a map.
Quotes for Large Groups, Big Luggage & Specific Vehicles
Family travellers
List adults, children, infants and a stroller separately — enough seats doesn't guarantee enough boot space.
Four or more bags
Provide the number of large and hand luggage items. Boot shape and capacity vary by vehicle model.
Travelling with a wheelchair
State whether it folds, its size, and whether the passenger can transfer seats themselves, so the vehicle type can be confirmed.
Golf bags & equipment
Golf bags, bike boxes, exhibition materials and musical instruments should come with their length, width and height — not just "one item."
6-seaters or a specific vehicle
You can request one, but a specific brand, model or seating isn't guaranteed — get it confirmed in writing.
Multiple-vehicle arrangements
Groups should list each vehicle's passengers, luggage, destination and contact person, to make allocation and checking easier.

Raise Payment & Receipt Needs When Getting Your Quote
| Requirement | Spell out in your quote request |
|---|---|
| HKD cash | Generally accepted — have suitable denominations ready |
| Octopus or credit card | State the specific brand; actual support varies by vehicle |
| QR code payment | Specify Alipay, WeChat Pay, PayMe or another method you need |
| Fare receipt | A printed receipt can be requested; if the printer fails, you should get a handwritten one |
| Corporate expensing | State the required information and format — don't assume every driver can provide custom corporate documentation |
| Electronic payment record | Can prove the transaction, but isn't necessarily the same as a statutory taxi fare receipt |
From 1 April 2026, Hong Kong taxis must offer at least one QR-code and one non-QR-code electronic payment method, though supported brands may vary by vehicle. If a payment method is a hard requirement, get it confirmed before accepting the quote.
For more detail, see Hong Kong Taxi Payment Methods and Taxi Electronic Payment Guide.
Why a Trip Change Needs a New Quote
| Change | Possible impact |
|---|---|
| Changing the pickup address | Distance, tolls, taxi type and driver assignment |
| Adding a stop | Drive time, waiting, road fees and luggage distribution |
| Changing the date or time | Vehicle availability, traffic and the original dispatch arrangement |
| Adding passengers | Legal seating capacity and the number of vehicles needed |
| Adding luggage | Boot capacity, vehicle type and luggage fee |
| Flight cancelled or diverted | The whole pickup date, location and driver arrangement |
| A long delay | Parking, waiting, whether the driver can keep waiting, and the rest of the trip |
Every change needs a fresh confirmation
Sending "running half an hour late" or "adding one more stop" without a reply doesn't mean the original driver has accepted it. Submit the new details in your original booking conversation and confirm the updated time, price and dispatch arrangement.
Instant Quote, Price List or Calculator — Which Should You Use?
| Tool | Best for | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp trip quote | Actual bookings, unusual addresses, flights, large groups, luggage and stops | Needs manual verification, response time isn't guaranteed |
| Airport taxi price list | Quickly checking common areas and a rough budget | Different addresses and routes within the same area can still vary |
| Standard fare calculator | Understanding the statutory metered distance and waiting charges | Map distance, actual route and traffic can differ |
| 15%-off calculator | Comparing the estimate after discounting a specified portion of the meter | Tolls, luggage and other surcharges may not be part of the discount |

How Does an Airport Taxi Quote Compare With the Airport Express?
The Airport Express charges per passenger and per station; a taxi is usually charged per vehicle for the whole trip. Don't compare a single Airport Express ticket against a taxi's total price in isolation, and don't ignore the onward trip from Hong Kong, Kowloon or Tsing Yi Station to your final address.
- Add up every adult and child ticket.
- Check the 3-5 person Airport Express companion fare.
- Add the taxi, bus or MTR fare from the Express station to your hotel.
- Add the time for the whole group to carry luggage and transfer.
- Factor in the taxi's tolls, luggage and applicable surcharges.
- For an overnight trip, check the Airport Express's first and last train times.

Hong Kong Airport Taxi Quote FAQ
Fill in pickup or drop-off, date, time, flight, full address, group size and luggage, then send it via WhatsApp to 5584 6444.
No. The form only organises your details and opens WhatsApp; the actual price must be checked against the address, route, vehicle type, luggage and availability.
No. You still need to accept the trip and price, and receive a formal booking confirmation. A read receipt or automated reply doesn't mean a car has been arranged.
Go by each specific written quote — confirm tolls, roads, normal luggage, dispatch, parking, waiting and stops item by item.
Don't assume so. Tolls, roads, luggage, parking, dispatch and other fees may not be part of the discount — check that specific quote's terms.
As of August 2026, red taxis charge $29 for the first 2km, green $25.5, blue $24, then meter by distance or waiting time after that.
$6 per chargeable luggage item, and $5 may be charged per dispatch/reservation trip. Wheelchairs and crutches a disabled passenger relies on for mobility are free.
A flight number identifies the actual flight more reliably than a time alone, and helps verify the arrival status or departure terminal.
Arrivals and pickups are currently at T1, with the arrivals hall split into Area A and Area B. T2 mainly handles departure procedures for certain airlines.
The statutory meter has no general overnight surcharge, but tolls, roads, luggage, dispatch and other applicable fees may still apply; a fixed-fare booking is confirmed per trip.
Yes. Please provide every passenger, luggage and special item count; exceeding one vehicle's safe capacity may mean recommending a different vehicle type or multiple cars.
Yes, raise it — though supported brands vary by vehicle. Passengers can request a printed fare receipt; if the printer fails, you should get a handwritten one.
Depends on the waiting, parking and delay terms. If your flight is cancelled, renumbered, rescheduled or badly delayed, get the arrangement reconfirmed.
It may. Adding a pickup, a drop-off, changing the area or waiting longer changes the distance and time, so get a new quote first.
Depends on the time of day, enquiry volume, route, vehicle type and availability — it can't be guaranteed within a fixed number of minutes. Submit important or complex trips early.

A standard Hong Kong taxi only covers trips within Hong Kong
Red, green and blue taxis cannot carry passengers directly into Shenzhen, Zhuhai or Macau. A quote written as "Shenzhen Bay," "Huanggang," "Liantang" or "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge" generally means dropping you at the corresponding Hong Kong-side checkpoint unless stated otherwise. A direct cross-border trip requires separately verifying the vehicle's permit and eligibility.
Quote & information disclaimer: "Instant quote" means you can submit your full trip details for an enquiry immediately — it does not mean the site calculates a price automatically, guarantees a reply within a fixed number of minutes, or guarantees a car is instantly available. Statutory meter figures are compiled from Hong Kong Transport Department rates available as of 31 August 2026: urban taxis $29 for the first 2km, New Territories taxis $25.5, Lantau taxis $24; $6 per chargeable luggage item, $5 per dispatch/reservation trip. Actual fares are affected by the route, traffic, tolls, roads, waiting, luggage and other applicable items. The scope of a fixed fare or 15% discount is governed by each specific written confirmation. Any estimate, WhatsApp quote or price enquiry does not equal a completed booking; passengers must receive a formal booking confirmation and dispatch arrangement. Last updated: 31 August 2026.
